Top Ten Popular Authors I’ve Never Read

Top_Ten_Tuesday

(TTT is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish)

Authors I’ve never read but want to:

Top-Ten-Authors-1

Rainbow Rowell | Jackson Pearce | Melina Marchetta

Top-Ten-Authors-2

Richelle Mead | Philip Pullman | Lois Lowry

I know, I know. I should read a Rainbow Rowell book. Everyone LOVES her books. But I want to be in the right mood for that and these past few months I just haven’t been in the mood for contemporaries. Melina Marchetta is on my list because I want to read more epic fantasy series and Finnikin of the Rock sounds awesome.  And why haven’t I read any book by Jackson Pearce yet? I don’t know! I own two of her books but somehow there are always other books that are more important. SOMEDAY I will get to them! I’m not sure how to feel about Richelle Mead. I own 6 of her books (of three different series)…. yeah, don’t ask! I’ll get to those someday too. Lois Lowry is of top priority. When the new boxed set comes out this year I’m finally going to read The Giver! And once I made a dent in my tbr pile I’ll get Philip Pullman’s series too!

Author I’ve never read and probably never will:

Top-Ten-Authors-3

Lauren Kate | Simone Elkeles | Sarah Dessen | Meg Cabot

That Lauren Kate’s stories don’t appeal to me aside, that lady freaked me out a little with her teardrop story that I heard when I saw her last year at a book fair. No thank you!
These other three authors with their contemporaries just don’t appeal to me either. It’s not the genre, that’s just a coincidence but I can’t really tell why I don’t want to read their stories.

  • Literally every Melina Marchetta book I have ever read has become an instant favorite 5-star book. And I haven’t even read Finnikin yet, though I usually lean toward fantasy. She is my absolute must-read from this list!

  • I really want to read Simone Elkeles, Sarah Dessen, Lois Lowry, Melina Marchetta and Jackson Pearce!

  • NO! No, no, no! Please don’t say you’ll never read a book by Meg Cabot without trying at least one! Her books are awesome! And she doesn’t only write contemporaries. There are a lot of fantasy books, too, and they’re great!

  • I really liked Eleanor & Park but I can’t bring myself to reading any of her other books. I think I’m also not in the contemporary mood right now.
I’m dying to read Finnikin but I want to wait until the pb of Quintana is published so that I can marathon the trilogy. I loved her Jellicoe Road to pieces!
I also haven’t read Jackson Pearce yet; somehow her novels don’t really appeal to me although I love fairytales and retellings.
Oh, and then there’s Richelle Mead. I own the whole Vampire Academy series and really want to read them but then there’s always a book that I want to read more. I have absolutely no idea when I will get to them.
And now I’m incredibly curious: what exactly did Lauren Kate tell you that she freaked you out?

    • I’m waiting with getting Finnikin because there is another edition on amazon that’s coming out this year and I want to see first if that one has a new cover. I don’t really like the old ones.

Lauren Kate told a story about where she got the idea from for her newest book. Something about her and her husband having a hard time and she was crying and he touched her eye (YUK!) to get a teardrop on his finger and *enter cheesy words*… That’s creepy imo. I think in her book it’s even worse because it’s a stranger doing that to the MC.

      • Oh, really? Good to know! That means I should probably wait for the cover reveal before buying the other two in case I want to switch to the new editions.

oO what?! No wonder she freaked you out!

      • I’m not sure if it will get a new cover though. I think their ebook that came out recently got the old one. But we’ll see. I just want matching editions^^

  • I don’t seem to be interested by Lauren Kate either. Not for me. I do recommend Rainbow Rowell when you are in the mood for her books though!

  • Lautes ja zu Rainbow und Jackson! :D

  • Fangirl is so adorable! Enjoy. :)
