Top Eight Favorite Heroines From Books

(TTT is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish)

This week is actually pretty hard for me. I don’t have a lot of heroines that I absolutely love. I often even prefer reading about guys/from guys’ POV. There are a lot of great female leads out there but those really awesome ladies that I would call favorites are rather rare.

Vin from The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

Reading all three Mistborn books was like seeing my little baby grow up and I still  can’t accept that she is all grown up now. How she turned from the girl, living on the street, trusting no one, to a woman who protects the ones she loves with all she’s got.

Art3mis from Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

I was always kind of sad about how little you actually get to know her because she so secretive but what we do know makes her a really awesome character. (I really hope we get to see a lot more in the upcoming sequel) It’s nice to see some female geeks in books who have kickass skills. I admired her for not giving up her dream and work just because a boy comes along. You go, girl!

Celaena from Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

How that girl went through all that stuff that happened in the three books and is still standing and fighting is beyond me. I would have been a broken, miserable mess in her place. What I love about her is that she has both a strong and weak side, but no matter what happens, she doesn’t give up and fights for the ones she loves.

Alana from Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

Alana, our fellow book nerd! I don’t know what else to say but: SHE IS AWESOME! (I mean come on, she kicks ass while holding her baby in her arms!)

Viola from The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

Can’t make a TT list without adding a Ness book, can I!?^^
If you ever need to fight a war, no matter what kind, you want this girl on your side. A true friend who will always be there for you, no matter what stupid things you did. She won’t judge, but help you get back on track. Such an open-minded character who also knows how to deal with the assholes of her world.

Blue from Blue Lily,Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

I think Blue is such an important character. I love her so much for just being herself, no matter what other people think. Another thing I love about her is her relationship with her family, especially her mom. I wish there would be a lot more YA books out there about characters who have such a relationship rather than the typical absent or not caring parents. I also might be a little jealous about her friendship with the Raven Boys.

Zusana from Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

This girl is the bomb! She is the one who is always able to cheer you up when everything is awful. She might be small but in her heart she is the tallest I have ever met.  She is seriously the best friend one can wish to have.

Delilah from A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab

Wannabe pirate and thief, what more do you need to like her?  This girl kicks ass. She knows what she wants and she goes for it, ready to make her dream come true. She is such a relateable character with her wanderlust. And her sass! It was love at the first page^^

Any other awesome heroines I should know about???

  • Wolltest du nicht noch Arya mit reinnehmen? :D

  • VIN *CRIES* BEST CHARACTER. BEST. CHARACTER.

  • I have a confession to make, I haven’t read any of these. Gasp! Some will have to be added to my wishlist pile.
    Thanks for sharing.

    • Oh my, I don’t even know which book I would make you read first! You have so much awesomeness ahead of you when you’ll read these!

  • Eeeeep, I want to finish The Final Empire so bad. I will get to it soon! Hopefully in March.

I love all of your choices and I have a feeling that the ones not on my list could easily be there once I read all the books you mentioned haha. In other words, what awesome taste we have. ;)

  • christine danielle

I have truly never read any of these books but they seem amazing
    MY TOP TEN TUESDAY

  • Superb list! We have very similar taste it seems (although I haven’t read some of those books yet, they are in my TBR, especially Sanderson!)

  • Celaena is simply perfection. I love her and all her flaws – she amazes me with her strength.
Zusana is hilarious, haha, I love her unfailing support.
PIRATE AND THIEF WITH SASS. I’m gonna love Delilah, I know it :D
Blue is wonderful and I can’t wait to meet this Vin :)

  • Fantastic list :D Celaena has been on so many today.
    Cora @ Tea Party Princess

  • Yay, Zuzana ist einfach toll :-) Auf meiner Liste würde auf jeden Fall noch June aus der Legend-Trilogie stehen. Und natürlich Penryn aus Angelfall, sie rockt einfach! :-)

  • Sometimes I love Calaena, but sometimes I don’t. xD I mean, she has her shining moments but there are times when she lets her emotions get the best of her. Personally, I’m more of a Manon fan.

I haven’t finished The Raven Boys yet, but so far I’m really liking Blue’s straight forwardness. :)

I must read A Darker Shade of Magic ASAP. I can’t wait to go to the bookstore after exams, because I definitely need to meet Delilah.

    Awesome post, Crini!

  • VIOLA! Yes, she’s so amazing! I loved how strong she was and how she wasn’t afraid to be afraid, but still stand up and be on her own at times and just GET THINGS DONE.

I started ADSOM last night but I was so tired, I only read about 10 pages. OOPS. I’ll finish it tomorrow. We’ve got a snow day!

  • Great list! Alana and Art3mis was particularly true for me. Sad to say, I found Celaena a terrible heroine and flat in her characterisation, but I assume she get better throughout the series. The other heroines I don’t know – yet! Time to expand my reading list I think.
