Top Ten Audiobooks

Top Ten Tuesday

(Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish)

Making a list of favorite audiobooks is probably the easiest Top Ten Tuesday topic I could ever do. I only started listening to audiobooks this year so I was very slowly easing into it and then also had a massive (listening?) slump during the summer, so there really isn’t much to choose from, lucky me. Most of the ones I did listen to were amazing though and definitely recommended.

A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2) by V.E. Schwab
I’ve listened to this one two times in a row, right after each other, it’s THAT good. I wish they would re-do the first book.

The Tropic of Serpents (Memoirs of Lady Trent #2) by Marie Brennan
I switched to audio for the second book and even though it’s sad that I’m missing out on the illustrations it was the best decision ever. This is the perfect book to be listened to instead of read.

Lock In by John Scalzi
Okay, so I kind of regret that I did the audiobook with this one because I only later found out that the main character doesn’t have a gender which I obviously completely missed due to this being read by a guy. This is still a really good audiobook though and definitely recommended (for re-reading).

Audiobook cover of Captain's Fury Audiobook cover of Steelheart Audiobook cover of White Cat Audiobook cover of The Scorpio Races

Captain’s Fury (Codex Alera #4) by Jim Butcher
Once I got into audiobooks and saw that Kate Reading is the narrator of the Codex Alera books, I knew I had to make the switch.

Steelheart (Reckoners #1) by Brandon Sanderson
I re-read the series via audiobook and it was the best decision ever. So fast to get through and the audiobook is great.

White Cat (Curse Workers #1) by Holly Black
Another re-read I did via audio and do not regret. Can Jesse Eisenberg narrate more books please?

Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
This one was my very first (if we don’t count my first failed attempt from years before) and the one that started it all. After that it was re-reads galore, all via audiobook.

Audiobook cover of Daughter of Smoke and Bone Career-of-Evil-Robert-Galbraith-audio This-Savage-Song-Victoria-Schwab-audio

Daughter of Smoke and Bone (DoSaB #1) by Laini Taylor
And another re-read that was SO. GOOD.

Career of Evil (Comoran Strike #3) by Robert Galbraith
OMG, SO GOOD! Robert Glenister was the perfect choice as a narrator for this series.

This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity #1) by Victoria Schwab
I was so glad that this turned out so good because I knew I would listen to this many times.

Do you listen to audiobooks? Got any recs? Who are you favorite narrators?

  • I also have White Cat on my list, for the exact same reason! I love Jesse Eisenberg. He should narrate absolutely everything. I’m actually interested in listening to This Savage Song. I’m glad you liked the narration, because I think I’ll give it a go now. Thanks!

  • I listened to the final Curse Workers book on audio and it was very good – Eisenberg did a great job!

  • Servus liebe Crini,
Ebenfalls wirklich gelungen fand ich Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda gefolgt von A Court of Mist and Fury und (nochmal SJ Maas ;-)) The Assassins Blade. Deine Hörbücher oben werde ich jetzt gleich mal anschauen!
    Liebe Grüße
    Kati

  • It’s a good idea to listen to the Memoirs of Lady Trent series on audio! I still need to listen to This Savage Song, and we both need to listen to Vicious still. xD

  • I only review audiobooks on my blog.

I own Shades of Magic, but have been waiting for the series to be complete before starting. / The Reckoners & MacLeod Andrews are a favorite. / Scorpio Races is high on my TBR.

If you liked MacLeod Andrews, I recommend The Pillars of Reality series.

  • I really enjoyed the Comoran Strike books, now I’m curious to try them as audio books!!

    – Jonathan Cake (The Book of Lost Things)
    – Neil Gaiman :D
    – Noah Glavin (Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock)
    – Carl Prekopp (Half Bad Trilogie)!!!

Irgendwie nur Männer. Die englischen Leserinnen sind mir meist zu quietschig.

  • I loved A Gathering of Shadows when I read it over the summer! I can’t wait for A Conjuring of Light!

  • I don’t usually listen to audiobooks, but I’ll definitely keep these in mind for if I ever do have the urge to listen to one. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous choices! <3
