All About Books

Recap: May 2017

Stranger Things happened in May. Even though there have been extreme highs and lows re general life, I seriously don’t know what happened reading-wise that month. I only reread a single book (at least a Schwab book, so that’s still going) and only listened to two audiobooks. And while 11 books overall aren’t bad, my average page count is 268 pages, so yeah…. At least my book buying / accumulating went GREAT. A book a day keeps the doctor away, they say, right?

All them Books

I’m not going to complain about what I’ve read because they were all great books (even that 3* Ness one which just wasn’t for me but is an amazing book). It’s kind of shocking though that I didn’t finish a single print book, only ebooks and audiobooks. I really need to up my game again in June, especially regarding my rereads (reread count dropped below 50% #SADFACE).

Caliban’s War (The Expanse #2) by James S.A. Corey
Mapping the Interior by Stephen Graham Jones
River of Teeth (River of Teeth #1) by Sarah Gailey
The Ghost Line by Andrew Neil Gray
Borderline (The Arcadia Project #1) by Mishell Baker
The Book of Phoenix (Who Fears Death #0) by Nnedi Okorafor
In the Labyrinth of Drakes (The Memoirs of Lady Trent #4) by Marie Brennan
Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse #1) by James S.A. Corey
All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries #1) by Martha Wells
Release by Patrick Ness
Vicious (Vicious #1) by V.E. Schwab

So I might have gone a little overboard in May BUT BUT BUT… whatever. I’m on a scifi / spaceopera high and books make me happy and I didn’t even spend that much money.

All them movies and shows

May was a month of season finales and crime shows, so feels galore. I’m kinda glad to have a break now so I can finally rewatch some shows I have been meaning to watch again, priority being Yuri on Ice.

Agents of Shield – Loved all of S3 so much, especially the last few episodes
Sense8 – THE BEST AND THOSE ASSHOLES CANCELED IT
The Flash – IMFINEIMFINEFIMEFINE (WHAT. THE. HELL. *cries*)
The Fall – we have a winner for “actor who is the perfect creep”
Criminal Minds – Someone please stop me from watching S13. This mess needs to stop
Happy Valley – Happy my ass (really good though!)
The Killing – really digging this one for its actors

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – I have mixed feelings. Fun but also meh in some departments (full points for tiny Groot though <3)

All them songs

I guess I made up for not reading much by listening to a shit ton of music because my playlist is HUGE as in 50+ songs and woah! that’s never happened before. I guess the one really good thing coming out of 2017 is that artists put it all into their music and bring out all them songs.

  • Those are a lot of books but sometimes that is just what we need/deserve so whatever, right?

  • I want to hear about your highs, too!

I’ve only reread FOURTEEN BOOKS THIS YEAR WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?! And none since March. But I’m definitely rereading TSS in June.

Do you think I should read Release? I’m excited that you rated the second book in The Expanse even higher, because I’m already enjoying the first one!

Which editions of TSS and The Martian did you get?

    LOL to Happy Valley. :P

I really liked Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 2! Mostly because Baby Groot is the actual best.
