2013: Best of October + November TBR
October has been kind of a disappointment. I read a few really good books but besides my reread of The Book Thief I didn’t read any book that really blew me away. I would be okay with that but I also read four books I was extremely excited about only to be disappointed afterwards. James Dashner’s ‘The Eye of Minds’ and ‘3:59’ by Gretchen McNeil, two books by favorite authors of mine, didn’t live up to my anticipation. Insurgent by Veronica Roth was even worse than I thought it would be. Not that bad, but I loved Divergent and Insurgent just can’t compete with it in any way. And don’t even get me started on Asylum by Madeleine Roux. HUGE disappointment.
Of course I loved reading The Book Thief again, even if it made me cry (these are the best ones anyway). I also very much enjoyed V.E. Schwab’s Vicious, a book I wish would be part of a series because it was so interesting and a fun, dark read.
Before the end of the year and want to finish some more series, therefore I plan on reading:
+ Allegiant by Veronica Roth (still don’t have that one, damn you bookdepository)
+ Rebel Angels & A Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
+ Just One Year by Gayle Forman (still waiting for the PB to come out)
+ Prodigy & Champion by Marie Lu

+ Curtsies and Conspiracies by Gail Carriger
+ The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
+ Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater (reread before Sinner comes out next year)
+ Sea of Shadows by Kelley Armstrong

Mh, mit der Libba Bray Reihe muss ich es auch noch einmal versuchen, habe vor eeeewigen Zeiten mal Band 1+2 gelesen, und fand das eigentlich auch ganz gut, aber keine Ahnung warum ich nicht weitergelesen habe :D Schade, dass es davon kein Box Set gibt ….
Wann ist eigentlich genau geplant, Shiver zu lesen? Wollte ja auch mitlesen :=)
Viel Spaß, ich hoffe sehr, dass diesen Monat mehr gute Bücher dabei sind als im Oktober!

Wir haben noch gar nichts Konkretes ausgemacht, aber bisher siehts eher nach der zweiten Novemberhälfte aus ;)

Wenn dir Book Thief gefallen hat, schau dir auch mal Sarahs Key an, das fand ich total schön und ist vom Thema her ähnlich :)
Langsam habe ich schon keine Lust mehr die Divergent Reihe überhaupt weiterzulesen, Insurgent steht seit einem Jahr im Schrank und der dritte Teil hat auf GR ja auch nicht gerade für Begeisterungsstürme gesorgt :/ Dass die Autorin das Buch auf ihrem Blog nur wenige Tage nach Erscheinen schon erläutert und verteidigt, fand ich iwie seltsam…
Und beim Dashner Buch ahne ich ja auch schon Schlimmes, musste mich ja schon überwinden, es überhaupt zu kaufen, wobei die Leseprobe noch ganz gut klang.

Ich bin eigentlich ziemlich gespannt auf Allegiant, Insurgent war nicht unbedingt schlecht, aber mit Divergent kann es bloß so gar nicht mehr mithalten. Finde dieses ganze Rumgejammer, nur weil es kein Happyend gibt allerdings auch ziemlich bescheuert, mir tut die Autorin schon echt leid. Da traut die sich mal was und dann sowas…
Die Leseprobe/der Anfang vom Dashner Buch ist auch noch richtig gut, aber irgendwann gings dann wirklich bergab. Dafür war das Ende wieder gut und hatte ne coole Wendung :D

Finds auch übertrieben. Ich hatte am Rande mitbekommen, dass es wohl sogar eine Petition von sogenannten Fans gab, dass sie das Buch neu schreiben soll!?
Sowas ist doch echt daneben, das ist schließlich ihre Story, die kann sie enden lassen wie sie will.
Ich finde auch nicht, dass eine Reihe immer mit einem Happy End enden muss. Wobei einem wie bei TDC natürlich schon das Herz blutet ^.^ Na ja, ich werd’s wohl noch lesen, hatte schon überlegt, Insurgent einfach zu überspringen xD
Na, beim Dashner Buch kling das doch ganz vielversprechend. Solange es nicht ganz für die Tonne ist. Werde ich dann wohl als nächstes lesen. Knabbere derzeit aber immer noch an More than this ^.^

Schade, dass das diesen Monat nix war :( Hoffentlich wird’s dann im November besser. Wann erscheint “Just One Year” denn offiziell als PB? Bei Dussmann steht das schon seit zwei Wochen rum.

Am 5.November soll es raus kommen. Aber hab sowieso gerade so viel das ich gleichzeitig lesen will, da kann sich TBD ruhig wieder so viel Zeit lassen wie mit Allegiant :D

I read The Bone Season a couple of months ago. It was refreshing and new.
Just mentioned Prodigy on my blog. Have to read it as well before Champion arrives.
Desperately want to read Vicious. I’ve heard so many great things about it.

Vicious is one of the books at the top of my Christmas wishlist. I’d love to have it but it’s just so expensive (at least in comparison ^^).
Oh, the gorgeous English editions of the Gemma trilogy! I just adore the cover of Rebel Angels (and the title btw). It’s sooo pretty! I wish I had them in English, too. However, I was a little disappointed by The Sweet Far Thing. I can’t even remember why, it’s been so long since I’ve read it. It was just not as good as the first two.

I always hate that adult books are so expensive. But Vicious is totally worth it! :D

Oh yessss! Me too :D ! God, I loved them! I think I have to reread the series sometime. I really hope you like TSFT much better than me. It wasn’t all bad but I found it to be quite lengthy in parts.
And I really don’t get it why. That’s so unfair!

I’ve not re-read The Book Thief, although I really want to and it’s probably #1 on my list. I’m happy to hear to you enjoyed it just as much as I’m worry I won’t!
