Top Ten Books That Will Make You Cry

Top_Ten_Tuesday

(TTT is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish)

I’m so excited about this one! I’m going to look into ALL the lists because I LOVE books that make me cry. I think these are the best ones.

A lot of the books on my list made me cry because of the death of a character. But there are also others where I cried because I was so extremely angry or relieved. Hence these books aren’t all sad ones but they all have something about them that made me shed some tears. I’m not sure all these will make you cry but they had that effect on me. And because these books are so important to me I have to cheat this week and make it 12 books

  • See, I just completely block out all memories of books that make me cry – I’ve read (and cried through) both BEFORE I FALL and THE BOOK THIEF and they didn’t even cross my mind for this list! I have some Patrick Ness in my TBR, including A MONSTER CALLS, at least I’m prepared for the tears!

  • I’ve had ‘Probability of Miracles’ sitting on my shelf for a LONG time! I wish I hadn’t so much school reading and work, I’d love to get to it.

  • Oh, man. The Fault in Our Stars and The Book Thief both destroyed me. I was a sobbing mess after both of them. I’m pretty sure I’ll probably cry at the other books on your list when I get around to reading them – especially Before I Fall. I’ve heard that one is really sad.
    Great list! :D

  • Great picks! I really want to read A Monster Calls, but I’ve seen it on so many lists that I’m a little scared. My TTT :)

  • The Fault in Our Stars made me so sad!

  • The Fault in Our Stars made me cry as well :(( I’ve been seeing Winger and Before I Fall on so many lists, I’ll probably have to read them soon! Great list!

    • Oh yes, you need to read Winger. Not just because it’s so sad but it’s also a really pretty book (illustrations/comic stripes) and it’s funny and just awesome :D

  • I really want to read Tell the Wolves I’m Home, it’s been on my wishlist for ages! I have The Probability of Miracles on my TBR pile and I’m already resigning myself to the fact that I’m going to cry like a baby when I read it haha. Thanks for stopping by my Top Ten!

  • everyone is talking about The Fault in Our Stars : Now I want to read it too!

    • Oooh, you haven’t read it yet? Haven’t you been spoiled multiple times by now? These spoilers are everywhere, especially now with the movie. Hope you’re gonna like it when you read it.

  • I have read Before I Fall and I love it so much! I didn’t cry over it, though, but that’s probably because I didn’t really understand the ending at first. I was so confused and I needed to think about it at first. Assuming the ending is the part you cried over, of course! I really want to read Out of the Easy, so I’m glad it made you cry. Does that sound weird? I just mean that I think it must be a great book if it can make you cry over it, so I’m very excited to read it myself ;)

    • Yes, it was the ending that I cried over. Makes me sad all over when I only think about it.
Haha, I know what you mean and it doesn’t sound weird. It is exactly what I was thinking all the time while reading this week’s TTTs :D

  • I haven’t read The Book Thieft but I really need to read that one very soon. And The Gemma Doyle series. I started A Great and Terrible Beauty and put it down, not because I didn’t love it but because I had to return it to the library and I need to check it out again asap. Actually I might just pick up the series because they are gorgeous gorgeous covers!!!

    • When I first saw the covers of the series I thought they have the typical look of historical fiction books, with girls in dresses on them. But they really are gorgeous!

  • If I’m not at the verge of tears at least once over a novel, then it’s really bad. I weep so easily or am at least very close to tears basically all the time that it’s sometimes really annoying. My eyes water when I’m happy, sad, or angry and that’s the worst of all three. It’s just really hard to get a point across when I’m all teary-eyed.
I’ve read 5 of your novels so far and they all made me cry. Especially The Book Thief is getting worse with every reread. I’m always a sobbing mess at the end.
