Title Battle: Vicious

TitleBattle

I already had a list of songs lying around which share titles of books. I had no idea what to do with that list though until Rosie started her Title Battle. I love music (which I never talk about on my blog and wanted to change),  I love books and I already got at least 10 songs on my list, so I just had to join Rosie!

Book VS. Song. Who is going to win the Title Battle?

Round 1: VICIOUS

The book: by V.E. Schwab

Vicious_VE-Schwab

Victor and Eli started out as college roommates—brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognized the same sharpness and ambition in each other. In their senior year, a shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong. Ten years later, Victor breaks out of prison, determined to catch up to his old friend (now foe), aided by a young girl whose reserved nature obscures a stunning ability. Meanwhile, Eli is on a mission to eradicate every other super-powered person that he can find—aside from his sidekick, an enigmatic woman with an unbreakable will. Armed with terrible power on both sides, driven by the memory of betrayal and loss, the archnemeses have set a course for revenge—but who will be left alive at the end?

The song: by Silverline

Back down your making my heart cringe
Your words are tearing me within
I need a breathe of air to bring me back to life again

Hold on Hold on Move on Move on
Your words have torn me down again

What a Vicious cycle that you play on me
You cut me up and break me down just to see my pain
What a vicious game you will not play for free
You’re not the end of me I’ve had enough
You’re Vicious

Your lies are killing me
But I’ll wait for a better day
I need a remedy to bring me back to life again

Even though this song is obviously not about supernatural archnemeses I think it goes well with the book. They are both thrilling and powerful. Vicious by V.E. Schwab is one of my favorite books but this song is also one of my favorites. It’s still easy to choose a winner because no song as a chance against V.E. Schwab’s words. These wonderful anti heroes have their special place in my heart that this song is not able to touch.

What do you think? Who wins the battle?

  • WOOOOOO!

#1: Your banner for this is spectacular! I love that font so much that you used for “title” :D
    #2: YAY TITLE BATTLE!
#3: I LOVE HOW YOU PUT IT SIDE BY SIDE!
#4: I freaking love the song, and I can’t really compare this myself because I haven’t read the book, but everyone raves about this book, so maybe I should read it?!
    #5: I can’t wait for the next one! :D

  • That’s an awesome feature! I often connect songs and books although it’s mostly due to the content and not the title. Can’t wait to read more of these posts. I always like to get to know new bands/songs.
