Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR

Top_Ten_Tuesday

(TTT is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish)

I’m constantly adding new books to my TBR, always browsing Goodreads for new titles to add to my never ending wishlist. If it weren’t for some most-anticipated releases, I wouldn’t mind if publishers took a break for a year or two so I can catch up on all the books I want to read. Some of my recently added titles:

In Search of Lost Dragons by  Élian Black’mor and Carine-M
I would have bought this book the second I first saw it if it weren’t so damn expensive. I’ve seen some of the beautiful illustrations on Instagram (LOOK AT IT!) and fell in love. Must-have for sure.

River of Ink by Paul M.M. Cooper
Awesome cover, historical fiction, diverse setting. I definitely want to get a copy of this one.

The Lazarus War:Artifact by Jamie Sawyer
These days I’m adding so many Sci-Fi books set in space to my TBR. I hope to read many of them this year. War against an alien race with the help of avatars? Sign me up!

27 Hours by Tristina Wright
“a group of queer teens living on a colonized moon must stop an attack that would make the war between their cultures a war of extinction” What more do you need to know! MUST HAVE!

Fallen Isles Trilogy #1 by Jodi Meadows
I still haven’t ready any books by Jodi Meadows and I’m not so sure if she writes the kind of books I love BUT “illegal dragon trafficking”!!!!

New Pompeii by Daniel Godfrey
Another book that I had to check out because of its amazing cover and “technology that can transport objects and people from deep in the past to the present day” sounds right up my alley.

The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town by John Grisham
After watching Making a Murderer I googled for some books to read and stumbled upon this non-fiction by Grisham.

Cocaine Blues by Kerry Greenwood
I’ve added this book after I watched a few episodes of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and fell in love with the series. I love these kind of murder mysteries and even though the book series seems to have some differences, I want to give it a go too.

The Bullet-Catcher’s Daughter by Rod Duncan
I came across the third book in this series on Netgalley and was drawn in by the cover. These too seem to be detective stories, this one being from the POV of a woman who lives a double life, as herself and as her brother who is a detective.

The Hypnotist by Laurence Anholt
Another book that made me curious because of its cover is The Hypnotist. I wouldn’t say it’s a must-read for me but it sounded interesting enough for me to add it to my TBR.

Have you read any of these? Did you add any of these too?

  • Hi! I’m loving the covers today. The Bullet Catchers Daughter is especially intriguing. River and Ink is gorgeous too. I hadn’t heard about Jodi Meadows new series but Dragon trafficking??? Count me in!!!

    Great List
    Happy Reading

  • I should know by now that it’s dangerous to read your posts like this, because I always end up adding way too many books to Goodreads. XD Fortunately I already had a lot of these on my to-read shelf.

BUT THAT FIRST BOOK OH MY GOD. *____*

  • I really want to read In Search of Lost Dragons and The Fallen Isles trilogy, I’d never heard of them before but now I definitely want to read them! :)

    My TTT Post!

  • OH MY GOD, IN SEARCH OF LOST DRAGONS looks absolutely stunning but holy shit, 31€ is indeed freaking expensive oO

I’ve heard about RIVER OF INK first when Samantha Shannon mentioned it on Twitter and I’m not sure if I really want to read it because this poetry stuff sounds not THAT appealing to me but I can’t take my eyes off that cover :D

I added THE BULLET-CATCHERS DAUGHTER to my TBR because of Netgalley too and because of the amazing covers of the series. It also reminded me a bit of THE INVISIBLE LIBRARY which I really enjoyed a lot last year.

The cover for THE HYPNOTIST looks really cool and it seems like a mix of Pennywise from Stephen King’s IT, a KKK hood and a Marlboro cigarette pack to me but I’m not sure if the story would actually be my cup of tea… :D

    • I’m not 100% sure about the poetry stuff in River of Ink either but I still want it :D

LOL I didn’t see the Marlboro similarity before you said it but now I can’t see anything else XD

  • The Hypnotist sounds really interesting! I get what you mean by its interesting enough to put on your TBR but not a must read :) Hope you get around to these books soon!

    • Sometimes I wonder why I even put this kind of book on my TBR as in 99% of the cases I never end up reading them because there are just too many must-haves in the way.

  • I saw the cover of The Bullet Catcher’s Daughter on Net Galley, too – what a cover!! I’m sort of in a detective/mystery-reading phase these days, can’t wait to read this book!

    • I really don’t read detective stories often enough even though I always enjoy them a whole lot. And one with a steampunk twist is even better.

  • I tend to read a lot of contemporary books only so it’s absolutely refreshing to hear about these new-to-me fantasy/sci-fi/historical reads! I’ve yet to read anything by Jodi Meadows either but I just added Fallen Isles to my to-read because the synopsis sounds so damn good.

  • River of ink is a new one to me. I was immediately drawn to that cover. I’m keeping an eye on that one!

  • New Pompeii sounds great–even if I was only interested in it for its cover ;)

I only recently discovered Jodi Meadows myself–I was really impressed by the Orphan Queen so I am excited to try her other series. And Dragons?!?! Count me in!
