Upcoming: Girl Power

I’ve recently come across some not-so-soon to be released books that just scream GIRL POWER to me and made me really excited but also frustrated because I HAVE TO WAIT LIKE TWO YEARS FOR SOME OF THOSE?
And because books about powerful girls/women, especially those with more than just one, are awesome, I thought I would share my list (and make you suffer with me until they FINALLY come out muhaha).

What bookS made the list?

Every single book on this list made it because it sounds like they feature kick ass female characters, those being either characters in powerful positions (female rulers for the win) or characters who have some epic profession like assassins.

All of them are yet to be released (*cries*).

They are either Fantasy or Science Fiction (both young adult and adult books).

Of Sand and Malice Made by Bradley Beaulieu

What is Of Sand and Malice Made about?

Why am I excited about Of Sand and Malice Made?

This is a prequel story to Twelve Kings in Sharakhai which I read last year and let me tell you: Çeda is AMAZING and definitely not the only strong female character in this series.

Markswoman by Rati Mehrotra

What is Markswoman about?

Why am i excited about Markswoman?

We don’t know much about this one yet but what we do know sounds absolutely fabulous. First of all: ASSASSINS. But not just any kind of assassins, but a whole order of FEMALE, MAGICAL-KNIFE-WIELDING ASSASSINS. And this order worships Kali, “the mother Goddess, SLAYER OF DEMONS AND THE EPITOME OF FEMININE POWER”.

Autonomous by Annalee Newitz

What is Autonomous about?

You already had me at “rakish female pharmaceutical PIRATE”. She is not just any pirate but a scientist! Hells yeah! On top of that she acts as the next Robin Hood and how much more awesome can it get?

Isola is my most wanted comic out of all the new series that were announced at Image Expo. Why do I want it so bad? 1) A queen turned into a tiger. 2) Her captain of the guard is a woman. 3) “But the core of the story lies in the hearts of two women, in their fondness for one another and their longing to be close despite the challenges of station and now species” 4) The art I’ve seen so far is A+++

What is Valiant about?

Why am I excited about Valiant?

We know almost nothing about this book so far but do you really need to know more than that it is about a FIERCE CELTIC PRINCESS who becomes a GLADIATOR???

What it Empress of a Thousand Skies about?

Why am I excited about Empress of a Thousand Skies?

Okay, I’m a little bit worried that the whole “her would-be assassin” could ruin it if it’s the mysterious guy she’ll fall in love with trope BUT it’s said to be for fans of the Lunar Chronicles and Red Rising and a princess fighting for her dynasty definitely sounds great to me, especially with that epic title.

Not only is this about a princess who has magical powers she shouldn’t have BUT the princess also FALLS IN LOVE WITH HER BETROTHED ROGUEISH HORSE-TRAINING SISTER. I bet there will be some epic world saving from those two.
