Ten SciFi Books I’ve Added To My TBR List Lately

Top Ten Tuesday

(Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish)

My TBR is one hot mess because I love browsing Goodreads, Amazon etc for new books to read, both back- and frontlist-titles. and add books to my TBR list on a daily basis. Who cares that I’ll only have time for like 20% of them. To make it easier to choose books for today’s Top Ten Tuesday, I chose to make this part of SciFi November and only feature science fiction books.

Doctor Who: Twelve Doctors of Christmas by various authors
I became so excited when I saw that there is a new Doctor Who story collecting that matches the fairy tale retelling one.

Sanctuary by Caryn Lix
Aliens attacking a space station full of teenage criminals with powers? Sign me the hell up!

The Wanderers by Meg Howrey
This is about a group of astronauts in training for a mission to Mars. It’s not so much about the space travel and more about what it means for these people, like leaving their families. Definitely curious about this one.

All Systems Red by Martha Wells
The first book in a series called The Murderbot Diaries, and a story about a self-aware security droid. ALL I NEED TO KNOW REALLY.

All Our Wrong Yesterdays by Elan Mastai
A version of our 2016 but like people from the 1950s would have imagined it, time travel, alternate worlds. ALL THE GOOD STUFF.

The Disasters by M.K. England
About some teenagers in space who see themselves as failures, hence the title I guess, which amuses me.

The Refrigerator Monologues by Catherynne M. Valente
This is about women in superhero comics and I’ll be all over it once it comes out.

SW: Rogue One YA Novel by Beth Revis
I’m a huge fan of Revis’ Across the Universe series so I’m very excited that she is writing scifi again. And a SW story at that!

Touch by Claire North
I loved The Sudden Appearance of Hope, so not sure why I only discovered this recently but definitely a must-have.

Good Morning, Midnight by Lily Brooks-Dalton
I don’t trust books with less than 300 pages but I might make an exception for this one. Sounds like it’s less science-y and more about what it would be like if the world ended as in the usual literary fiction stuff!?

  • I love Beth Revis. Still need to read the last book in the Across the Universe series. But perhaps after that I should check out here New book :-) Love your list :-)

  • I remember the days when my TBR wasn’t allowed to go over 250. When it went over, I had to cull it. HA! That was before blogging, of course…

Just going to do a repeat of Sana’s post, as you predicted, and add all these to my GR :P Also, I am so intrigued by The Wanderers especially. The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet has gotten me so intrigued in ‘character’ SF.

I actually have Touch on my shelf! Might pick that one up soon.

    • I delete a lot of books from my shelves on GR like once a year too to keep it in control but it’s not helping much haha. And this year I finally gave up on caring about how big my owned TBR pile is which might not have been such a good idea because it kind of exploded LOL

  • You don’t trust books with less than 300 pages….?? OH YOU’RE WONDERFUL. I don’t trust them with more omg. (Well, I mean, I do. But I don’t trust them over 500 pages.) Hehh. But then I read a lot of YA so I blame it on that. *nods* My TBR is a hot mess too!! And The Refrigerator Monologues sounds AMAZING. I love that author!!

    • Come on, how can you make up world and such in under 300 pages? I’m okay with contemporaries (which I never read LOL) to have less but everything else needs to have more. Also: how do you cope with falling in love with characters and then getting less than 300 pages to read about them hmmm?
I’m ashamed to say I’ve only read one of Valente’s books so far.

  • Haha one hot mess is right even after all the organizing we do. I now think I need 3 different levels of must read books just to be able to sort them better

I love the title All Systems Red! It sounds so good but why aren’t murderbots already a thing.

    • OMG, I have so many different lists in different places (amazon wishlists, google keep, list on paper,…) for books I NEED, it’s a complete mess on its own.

  • Beth Revis is writing a Rogue One noverl? Awesome. Sanctuary sounds great, and I’ve read and enjoyed Martha Wells before. Also, All Our Wrong Todays sounds really great, I can imagine how much more advanced they would have thought we’d be by now, in the 50’s. :)

  • I’ll be adding that Doctor Who collection to my tbr and All Our Wrong Todays to my tbr!

  • I am going to add all these to my tbr too as I had not heard some of these titles earlier. They all sound pretty interesting.

  • I’m already impatiently waiting for the German audiobook of TOUCH. I was a bit disappointed by Claire North’s Harry August book but the blurb sounds SO interesting that I just have to give her books another try!
