Recap 2017: the month that was December

2017 has flown by crazy fast but December was the worst of all. What even happened in December? Where did the month go? We’ll never know. I gotta say, I’m glad Christmas and New Year’s is over and I can go back to my regular schedule.

Worst reading month of the year

December was BAD, not kidding. Not only did I read the lowest amount of books / pages across all months this year, but I also picked a few bad ones.

The Becoming fo Noah Shaw (The Shaw Confessions #1) by Michelle Hodkin -> DNF
Wonder Woman: Warbringer (DC Icons #1) by Leigh Bardugo
The Shepherd (Shepherd #1) by Ethan Cross
The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle
The Providence of Fire (The Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne #2) by Brian Staveley -> audiobook reread
Master Assassins (The Fire Sacraments #1) by Robert V.S. Redick -> DNF
A Red Peace (The Starfire #1) by Spencer Ellsworth -> A NEW FAVORITE
The Murder at the Vicarage (Miss Marple #1) by Agatha Christie

I finally read my first Miss Marple and I’m ready to read more. And as always: tor.com novellas did not disappoint.

Keep on buying them books

I didn’t get many books for Christmas (two to be exact) but I’m not too sad about it, considering how many I once again bought on my own.

The Thirteen Problems (Miss Marple #2) by Agatha Christie
Lost Boy by Christina Henry
Star Wars: Cobalt Squadron by Elizabeth Wein
Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye
Topics About Which I Know Nothing by Patrick Ness
Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado
Shadow Sun Seven (The Starfire #2) by Spencer Ellsworth
Star Wars: The Han Solo Trilogy (The Han Solo Trilogy #1-3) by A.C. Crispin
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
The Last Mortal Bond (The Chronicles of the Unhewn Throne #3) by Brian Staveley (audiobook*)
Master Assassins (The Fire Sacraments #1) by Robert V.S. Redick
The Copper Promise (The Copper Cat #1) by Jen Williams
The Iron Ghost (The Copper Cat #2) by Jen Williams
The Silver Tide (The Copper Cat #3) by Jen Williams
Batwoman Vol. 1: The Many Arms Of Death (Batwoman: Rebirth #1-6) by Marguerite Bennett
The Best Science Fiction of the Year Volume 1 by Neil Clarke
The Jade City (The Green Bone Saga #1) by Fonda Lee
Strange Practice (Dr. Greta Helsing #1) by Vivian Shaw
The Inheritance Trilogy (The Inheritance Trilogy #1-3) by N.K. Jemisin
Fortune’s Blight (The Shattered Kingdoms #2) by Evie Manieri

I obviously can’t escape ebook deals or these lists would look way different.

(*new edition)

I guess I watched more than i read

I’m still not back to my old self and watching two dozen different TV shows each week, mostly because I’m more into binge watching right now, instead of week for week, with two exceptions because DUH!

The Flash S4
I’m fine, totally fine. Why wouldn’t I be after that episode ending and a break right after that lasts weeks, ha haha hahaha.

Agents of SHIELD S5
I officially name this one my favorite season of all of AoS!

SW: The Last Jedi
Okay yeah, there wasn’t much of a story but WHO CARES!? I loved it (and cried every time Carrie was on screen)

Sense8 S1
Rewatched Sense8 because I felt like it and I still can’t deal with the show being over.

Dark
Someone tried to copy Stranger Things really hard…. and failed.

Home Alone + Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
It wouldn’t be Christmas without those movies.

Iron Man 3
Because it’s totally a Christmas movie too.

The Anti-Christmas hit list

I really don’t like Christmas songs (with a few exceptions of punk rock covers LOL) and had to work hard to not get any of those songs stuck in my head once I accidentally heard one. I was pretty much walking around with headphones on 24/7.

How was December for you? Read any good books?

  • IRON MAN 3 OH YES

STAR WARS OH YES. I cried so hard when her name came up during the credits, I couldn’t handle it… gah I miss her so much :(

I hope you had a lovely year, and happy 2018!!

  • Thank god for rereads! Was Murder at the Vicarage your second Christie?

I loved The Last Jedi so much! Did you read Chuck Wendig’s blog post on it?

LOL, did you like Dark at all? I have 3 episodes left and really want to know what happens. But it’s entertaining to pick out all the things it took straight out of ST. I Also, I don’t like a single character.

I had a busy but pretty great December. Sebastian’s family was so great about making me feel welcome during their Christmas celebrations.
